Holy Family University and Thomas Jefferson University Pathways
Holy Family University is proud to partner with Thomas Jefferson University to offer Holy Family students a pathway to the Master of Science in Athletic Training (guaranteed admission if pre-admission criteria is met), Doctor in Physical Therapy (preferred interview if pre-admission criteria is met) and Doctor of Occupational Therapy (preferred interview if pre-admission criteria is met) graduate programs.
Master of Science in Athletic Training
Guaranteed Admission (beginning for the 2025-2026 Academic Year)
Eligibility Requirements
- Rising Senior/Senior year student who will have earned a bachelor’s degree from Holy Family University prior to enrollment in the Jefferson Program
- Be a first time applicant to apply to the Admission Program
- Meet the following admissions criteria:
- Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree
- GPA Requirement: A minimum of 3.0 overall GPA is required
- Prerequisite Coursework Requirement: A minimum grade of a “C” is required, but a grade of a “B” or better is preferred, in the following prerequisite courses:
- Anatomy and Physiology I with lab, 4 semester credits
- Anatomy and Physiology II with lab, 4 semester credits
- Biology with lab, 4 semester credits
- Chemistry with lab, 4 semester credits
- Psychology, 3 semester credits
- While not required, the following courses are recommended: Pre-calculus, Nutrition, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Biostatistics, and Research Methods
- Apply via the Athletic Training Centralized Application System (ATCAS) by April 15th of the year of intended entry
As long as the above eligibility criteria are certified, there is no limit to the number of students at Holy Family that can participate in the Admissions Program.
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Preferred Interview (beginning for the 2025-2026 Academic Year)
Eligibility Requirements
- Rising Senior/Senior year student who will have earned a bachelor’s degree from Holy Family University prior to enrollment in the Jefferson Program
- Be a first time applicant to apply to the Admission Program
- Meet the Jefferson Program’s minimum admissions criteria, for the application year the student is applying:
- Degree Requirement: Any Bachelors degree
- GPA Requirement: A minimum of 3.0 overall GPA, 3.0 Science GPA and 3.0 science prerequisite coursework GPA is required for admission consideration
- Prerequisite Coursework Requirement: 41 semester credits from the following specific course areas with a grade of “C” or better (Admission to the program is competitive and they prefer to see a grade of a “B” or better for admission):
- Anatomy and Physiology I with lab* - 4 semester Credits
- Anatomy and Physiology II with lab*- 4 semester credits
- General Biology I with lab- 4 semester credits
- General Biology II with lab- 4 semester credits
- General Chemistry I with lab- 4 semester credits
- General Chemistry II with lab- 4 semester credits
- Physics I with lab** - 4 semester credits
- Physics II with lab** - 4 semester credits
- Statistics*** - 3 credits
- Psychology**** - 3 credits
- English Composition/Writing- 3 credits
- *8 Credits of Anatomy and Physiology I and II or 4 credits of Human Anatomy and 4 credits of Human Physiology labs must be included

- Shadowing/Professional hours Requirement: Observation hours with a licensed Physical Therapist are required with a recommended minimum of 50 hours in at least two distinct settings, preferably one outpatient and one inpatient

Provided the above eligibility criteria are satisfied there is no limit to the number of students at Holy Family who can participate in the Interview Program.
Doctor of Occupational Therapy
Preferred Interview (beginning for the 2025-2026 Academic Year)
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a full-time student since matriculation at Holy Family
- Rising Senior/Senior year student who will have earned a bachelor’s degree from Holy Family University prior to enrollment in the Jefferson Program
- Be a first time applicant to apply to the Admission Program
- Meet the Jefferson Program’s minimum admissions criteria, for the application year the student is applying:
- Degree Requirement: Any Bachelors degree
- GPA Requirement: A minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA, a prerequisite coursework GPA minimum of 3.0 is required
- Prerequisite Coursework Requirement: 23 semester credits from specific course areas. A grade of “B-" or above is required for each prerequisite course

**Any sociology course or cultural anthropology will meet this prerequisite. If a student’s institution does not offer cultural anthropology, a course that covers multiple cultures and/or ethnicities from a broad perspective based in anthropology or the social sciences will be accepted.
***Any English course or officially designated writing intensive course will meet the prerequisite.
- Professional Observation Hours: A minimum of 8 hours of observation with a licensed OT or OTA will be required to be completed prior to matriculation
