Arnold P. Gold Foundation and American Association of Colleges of Nursing Fund White Coat Ceremony

The Arnold P. Gold Foundation and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) recently announced that they have funded white coats for various nursing schools throughout the nation, including Holy Family University.

Holy Family University was one of three schools in Pennsylvania to receive funding for their white coat ceremony.

The white coat ceremony is traditionally the beginning initiation ceremony for nursing school students, signifying the beginning of their medical journey. According to the press release issued by AACN, “In nursing, a White Coat Ceremony typically consists of the recitation of an oath, an address by an eminent role model, and a reception for students and invited guests. Students also are given a specially designed pin that serves as a visual reminder of their oath and commitment to providing high-quality care.”

“We are delighted to be among the 50 schools of nursing selected to receive funding from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to host a White Coat Ceremony,” said Cynthia Russell, Dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions. “Holy Family University has a rich tradition of recognizing humanistic and compassionate care via our ‘Welcome to the Profession Ceremony,’ which is comparable to this year’s White Coat Ceremony. This semester, the University community will recognize students entering their second semester sophomore year with a program specially designed to celebrate their entry into the nursing profession.”
