Facilities Projects

Holy Family University is currently undergoing a number of exciting facilities projects at our Northeast Philadelphia campus. Please check back frequently for the latest updates.

Construction Update — March 19, 2025

Road Closure: Stevenson Lane

The contractor will begin milling and paving of the new drop off lane on Stevenson on Friday, March 21st. While the work is in progress, Stevenson will be shut down from the NEB to St Joes. All traffic will enter the campus and make a right to enter the parking lot. Traffic exiting the campus will travel through the main parking lot and exit at the one way exit or the main entrance. The road will reopen on Friday, March 21st after work is completed and be open through the weekend; road will close when work resumes on Monday, March 24th.

New Construction: Field House - Lot Closure 3/24

The University will begin construction of the new Field House alongside the SLR parking lot. Beginning March 24th, 2025, a construction fence will be installed and equipment will begin to be staged in the area. The small parking lot will be closed during construction. Construction will primarily take place in the shaded areas. At times additional walkway and drive lane closures will be announced as utilities are run to the site. 

Frankford Avenue Sidewalk

Contractors continue to replace the curb and sidewalk along Frankford Avenue. Work is progressing from the corner of Grant and Frankford to the campus entrance at Stevenson and Frankford. Work will continue into April. The corners of Grant & Frankford and Stevenson & Frankford will remain under construction through April and into May.

Expect temporary lane and shoulder restrictions on Frankford Ave at times between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

All work is subject to weather conditions and all closures will follow PennDOT’s prescribed plan.

Please be alert for heavy machinery and large trucks on campus during the day.

Intersections of Frankford & Stevenson and Frankford & Grant

Contractors will begin signal work on March 19th at the intersections of Grant & Frankford and Frankford & Stevenson (Main Entrance). Work will include overhead wire work as well as installing new underground wiring. Traffic patterns will shift during the day while work is proceeding. Please be alert for new and changing traffic patterns, please use caution while traveling through the area.

Construction Update — February 27, 2025

Sidewalk Closure

The sidewalk along Frankford Avenue from Grant Avenue to Stevenson Lane will be closed beginning 2/27. The sidewalk is expected to be closed for several weeks. Contractors will be replacing the curb and sidewalk. Work will begin at the corner of Grant and Frankford and proceed to the entrance at Stevenson and Frankford.

Construction Update — February 19, 2025

Multimodal

Contractor will begin minor work at the corner of the main parking lot to remove the abandoned driveway and restore the area. 

Multimodal at Grant and Frankford Avenues

Contractor will begin minor work at the intersection of Grant and Frankford to excavate and install piers and fencing on the corners. Most work will be off the sidewalk and drive lane and only minor disruptions are expected when equipment and materials move through the areas.

Please be alert for heavy machinery and large trucks in the areas during the day. Students, faculty, staff and campus visitors should be prepared for increased traffic and congestion on campus during peak times.

New Construction — Field House

The University will begin construction of the new Field House along side the SLR parking lot in the upcoming weeks. The new Field House will be located where the picnic tables are currently. A portion of the small lot will be closed during construction. The majority of the construction will take place in the shaded areas. At times, additional walkway and drive lane closures will be announced as utilities are run to the site.

Please be alert for heavy machinery and large trucks in the areas during the day. Students, faculty, staff and campus visitors should be prepared for increased traffic and congestion on campus during peak times.

Construction Update — January 29, 2025

Beginning January 29th, a section of sidewalk alongside St. Joes will be closed. The sidewalk is being removed to connect the new ramp to the existing sidewalk. The Contractor will construct a temporary path along the side once the existing sidewalk has been removed. Full closure of the walkway will be temporary and we anticipate reopening the walkway by the end of next week, weather permitting.  

Students, Faculty, Staff and Campus Visitors should cross Stevenson at the existing crosswalks and use the sidewalk along the opposite side of the street.

Construction Update — January 16, 2025

Grant Ave sidewalk is open to the corner of Frankford where there is still ongoing construction.

The main campus entrance on Frankford Ave and Stevenson Lane will remain under construction for several weeks as well as the side of Stevenson Lane between NEB and St. Joes. The corner of Grant and Frankford will also remain under construction for the new monumental signs.  

Sidewalks are currently closed at the main entrance and are anticipated to reopen in February. There may be traffic disruptions while trucks load and unload materials and when equipment is relocated.

Please be alert for heavy machinery and large dump trucks in the areas during the day.

Students, Faculty, Staff and Campus Visitors should be prepared for increased traffic and congestion on Campus during peak times.

Multimodal Project

Work has begun on the Multimodal project, which will provide beautiful new entryways for Holy Family University's main entrance to the campus.

Heavy construction related to the Multimodal project is scheduled to begin the week of November 10. The scope of this project will include:

  • Replacing all of the curbing and sidewalks on the perimeter of campus along Grant and Frankford Avenues
  • Installation of a new ADA compliant drop-off area along Stevenson Lane near St. Joseph Hall
  • Installation of monument signage at the main entrance to the University at Stevenson Lane along Frankford Avenue
  • Installation of monument signage at Frankford and Grant Avenues
  • Upgrades made to the traffic signals at Stevenson Lane and Frankford Avenue as well as Frankford and Grant Avenues
  • Replacement of the chain-link fence north of Stevenson Lane along Frankford Avenue

Community members are advised to allow extra time when traveling to and from campus as backups and delays will occur. All scheduled construction is weather dependent.
