Dr. Bernice Purcell Named President of the Board of Directors of the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business
Dr. Bernice Purcell '85, DBA, Director of University Assessment at Holy Family University, has been elected President of the Board of Directors of the Delta Mu Delta (DMD) Honor Society in Business. Delta Mu Delta (www.deltamudelta.org) is an international business honor society that recognizes academic distinction of students at select colleges and universities by acknowledging the achievement of its individual members who support and strengthen the communities they serve. The society was founded in 1913 and incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1952.
Dr. Purcell established the Mu Gamma Chapter of the DMD Honor Society in 2011 in her previous role as the University’s Associate Dean for Business Administration. She has served on the board since 2016, starting as a Regional Representative then serving as Chair of the Scholarship Committee, Board Secretary then Vice President, before her recent election to President at the November 2023 Board of Directors meeting in Phoenix, AZ. As the chief executive officer of the Society, Dr. Purcell will represent DMD at Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Conferences, serve as ex officio member on DMD Board committees, and work with the Board of Directors in leading the Society. Her term will extend until the Fall of 2025.
“The Board is currently implementing a new Strategic Plan and examining increased opportunities for faculty advisers and members to engage with the society, as well as broadening our offerings to members after they graduate,” Dr. Purcell said. “In my role as President, I will be leading these efforts and ensuring that our current benefits like the Scholarship Program and Ambition in Motion mentoring program are made known to a wider population of our membership.”
