Dr. Patricia Griffin Shines Light on What We Can Learn from the Nordic Approach to Incarceration Reform

Dr. Patricia Griffin, Holy Family University Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and Board Member for the Global Law Enforcement and Public Health Association, presented her research initiative, “Criminal Justice Reform at the County-level: Examining Reentry ‘Upstream’ Following the Nordic Penal Model” at the HFU Scholars’ Showcase on Friday, April 26.

Dr. Patricia Griffin smiling.Dr. Griffin received funding through the Ray and Mildred Taylor Award for a site visit to Oslo, Norway and Sweden to research the Nordic Penal Model and its application in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. During this site visit, Dr. Griffin carried out exploratory research on ways to expand reentry services in Bucks County following the model of the “Lil’ Scandinavia” prison program currently operating within the State Correctional Institute Chester (SCI Chester).
