Holy Family University Track & Field Achieves Unprecedented Success with ECC Honors

Holy Family University's track & field program has achieved remarkable recognition in the East Coast Conference (ECC) for the indoor season, securing three of the four major awards. The ECC, comprising eleven  member institutions, honored two outstanding student-athletes and a distinguished coach from Holy Family, underscoring the University's commitment to athletic excellence.

Nishorn Pierre – ECC Indoor Track & Field Male Athlete of the Year

Senior Nishorn Pierre from Grenada has been named the ECC Indoor Track & Field Male Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive time. Pierre led the conference in both the high jump (2.14 meters) and triple jump (15.16 meters), qualifying for the NCAA Championships in both events. At the national level, he earned All-America honors in each event, marking his third consecutive accolade in the high jump. Pierre was also recognized as the Most Outstanding Athlete of the ECC Championships for the second time, winning gold medals in both the high jump and triple jump, and setting a new meet record in the latter.

Ocelia Jones – ECC Indoor Track & Field Female Athlete of the Year

Sophomore Ocelia Jones from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, has been honored as the ECC Indoor Track & Field Female Athlete of the Year. Jones led the conference in the 60-meter hurdles with an NCAA provisional time of 8.73 seconds, securing gold at the ECC Championships. She also anchored the 4x400-meter relay team to a gold medal and earned a silver medal in the 400 meters with a time of 59.11 seconds.

Coach Dwight Brandon – ECC Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year

Head Coach Dwight Brandon has been recognized as the ECC Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year for the third consecutive year, bringing his total conference Coach of the Year honors to seven. Under his leadership, the Holy Family men's team secured their third straight ECC title, amassing 147 points to surpass runner-up Roberts Wesleyan's 133 points.

These accolades reflect Holy Family University's dedication to fostering athletic talent and achieving excellence within the ECC, which includes ten member schools. The University's track & field program continues to set high standards, both regionally and nationally.
