Holy Family Wins 2022-23 CACC Community Engagement Award for Trunk-or-Treat Event
The HFU Department of Athletics has been presented with the 2022-23 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Community Engagement Award for its Student- Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) sponsored Trunk-or-Treat event held in October.
The CACC Community Engagement Award is annually presented to one institution that best promotes the community engagement initiative adopted by Division II. This award takes into consideration one activity and is judged based on the type of outreach program, student-athlete involvement, athletic team involvement and athletic department involvement.
Holy Family will now move on for consideration for the NCAA Division II Community Engagement Award, which will be announced during the NCAA’s annual convention in January.
“The First Annual Holy Family SAAC Trunk-or-Treat was an event that was created to promote community and a strong family atmosphere on campus,” said SAAC Advisor Bernadette Laukaitis.
The event, held prior to a women’s soccer match on the Thursday before Halloween, provided children from the community the opportunity to come together on campus and meet HFU student-athletes who dressed up and gave out candy from the trunks of cars.
The children had the chance to engage in different activities with the student-athletes, before going on to the watch the women’s soccer match.
“We are looking forward to making it even bigger and better next year, as it was an awesome to see all of the HFU community come together and celebrate the Division II mission,” Laukaitis added.
