Thursday, May 12, 2022
6:00-9:00 p.m.
Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts

Founded in 1805, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts celebrates the transformative power of art and art making. The museum features a world-famous collection of 19th- and 20th-century American paintings, sculptures, and works on paper, as well as contemporary works. The permanent collection ranges from 18th- and 19th-century masters such as Benjamin West, Thomas Eakins, Winslow Homer, and Mary Cassatt to modern and contemporary artists including Charles Demuth, Jacob Lawrence, Alice Neel, Vik Muniz, Mickalene Thomas, and Kehinde Wiley.

In addition to works from the permanent collection on display, attendees can also view several special exhibitions. “Women in Motion: 150 Years of Women’s Artistic Networks,” will include more than 80 works of art by more than 50 women artists working professionally in the American art world from PAFA’s founding to the end of World War II.

The evening will be held in PAFA’s stunning 1876 Historic Landmark Building, one of the finest surviving examples of Victorian Gothic architecture in America. A reception will feature food stations, hors d’oeuvres, and an open bar in the Museum’s exhibition spaces. Following a short program, the reception will continue with artists sketching attendees.
