Holy Family University to Honor Mr. Louis P. Kassa III at 2025 Commencement

Holy Family University will recognize Louis P. Kassa III, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center (PABC), with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at its 2025 Graduate Commencement Ceremony on May 17. Kassa will serve as the keynote speaker for both the undergraduate and graduate ceremonies.
Kassa leads the PABC in Doylestown, PA, a nonprofit life sciences incubator that has experienced significant growth under his leadership. Since joining the organization in 2014 and becoming CEO in 2022, Kassa has overseen an expansion that brought the center to full capacity, now supporting nearly 90 biotech companies. He also co-founded the Hatch Biofund, which has raised more than $30 million to invest in emerging biotech startups.
In addition to his role at the PABC, Kassa serves as CEO of the Hepatitis B Foundation and the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute—two organizations closely linked to the center’s research mission. He is also co-founder of Family Foundations Partnerships, LLC, a firm focused on behavioral health and human services consulting.
Kassa’s background includes more than two decades of experience in nonprofit and public-sector leadership. He previously served as state director and chief operating officer of VisionQuest, a national behavioral health organization, and spent over 14 years with the Youth Services Agency, supporting at-risk youth in the juvenile justice system across the Mid-Atlantic.
A Bucks County native, Kassa earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Public Administration from Villanova University. He has been named to the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Power 100 list in both 2023 and 2024. In April 2024, he hosted Governor Josh Shapiro at the PABC to highlight the center’s continued contributions to regional economic development and scientific advancement.
The 2025 Commencement ceremonies will recognize Kassa’s leadership in biotechnology, public service, and education—fields that reflect Holy Family University’s commitment to innovation, community engagement, and transformative learning.
