Educational & Organizational Leadership, Ed.D.
The Accelerated Degree Doctor of Education in Educational & Organizational Leadership is a practice-based program rooted in current research that develops innovative and effective school and community leaders.
What Can I Do with this Degree?
- Accelerated Program
As a doctoral graduate, you will gain the skills and knowledge to function as an effective leader in a wide variety of education-related fields. Completing the principal or superintendent certification option will prepare you to pursue administrative positions in Pennsylvania K–12 schools. You may also pursue leadership opportunities in fields such as higher education, non-profit community organizations, and educational publishing and consulting.
Program Details
This program is designed to arm you with the skills to become an effective and ethical leader for schools and organizations—capable of making significant contributions to your field of knowledge through applied research. You will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge and skills by specializing in one of the following four concentrations:
- Organizational Leadership – Offers a business perspective on organizational leadership and prepares individuals to lead a wide variety of non-profit, for-profit, and community organizations.
- School Leadership and Administration with Pennsylvania Principal Certification – Prepares teachers and other school personnel to obtain Pennsylvania certification to serve as a public school principal (pre-kindergarten through 12th grade).
- School Leadership and Administration with Superintendent Letter of Eligibility – Prepares school administrators to obtain Pennsylvania certification to serve as a public school district superintendent.
- Curriculum and Instruction with Pennsylvania Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction (Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade) Certification – Prepares teachers and other school personnel to provide leadership in school curriculum models and instructional practices. Individuals may also apply for Pennsylvania certification to serve as a supervisor of curriculum and instruction (pre-kindergarten through 12th grade) in a public school district (pending approval by the Pennsylvania Department of Education).
