Assistant/Associate Professor for the School of Education

Position Summary:

The School of Education invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Education to teach graduate and undergraduate courses, focusing on PK-4 early childhood and PK-12 special education courses. Start date is January 2025.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing and teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses in a variety of formats, including face-to-face and online (asynchronous and synchronous)
  • Providing meaningful service to the School, the University, and the community
  • Planning and carrying out an active research agenda
  • Serving as advisor to undergraduate and graduate students

Non-Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Education & Experience Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification in elementary and special education preferably in PA or the willingness to obtain PA certification.
  • Earned doctorate in an Education area (or ABD with an expected completion date before January 2025).
  • Experience teaching in K-12 schools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with instructional technology
  • History of participating in LEA/IHE partnerships
  • Familiarity and experience with MTSS and PK12 student assessment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to follow university policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community.

Work Environment:

Operates in an office environment, that may have frequent interruptions. The area is well-lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards. Noise level is generally quiet to moderate.

Physical Requirements:

Communicates frequently, in person, over the phone, or via a computer. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication. Regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a computer keyboard. Operates standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
