Position Summary
The Second-degree FT & PTEW BSN program Coordinator is responsible for advancing the mission of the University and School by providing academic and administrative leadership to the Second-degree tracks. The Second-degree coordinator teaches a 12-credit load per academic year and serves as the on-site coordinator of the second-degree FT & PTEW programs at the Newtown and Northeast location. This is a 12-month position with a contract.

Essential Functions

- Serves as academic advisor for students enrolled in the tradition program in conjunction with faculty teaching in the traditional track. Serves as a faculty academic liaison
- Performs credit evaluation and equivalency in conjunction with admissions and academic advising
- Plans courses offerings in consultation with the Dean and Vice Dean of the SONHS
- Collaborates with the Simulation/Lab Coordinator to plan and implement lab and simulation experiences for students in the Second-degree FT&PTEW program
- Monitors and evaluates the Second-degree FT&PTEW program for academic integrity, compliance with SONHS and University policies, and compliance with requirements of accrediting and regulatory agencies
- Reports on the Second-degree FT&PTEW program at BSN Council meetings
- Participates in Dean’s Academic Leadership Council
- Participates in admission decisions specific to Second-degree FT&PTEW applicants
- Collaborates with office of accessibility and manages the testing schedules
- Oversees orientation of new student cohorts and coordinates participation of related student services
- Participates in planning and facilitates Student Recognition/Pinning Ceremony for each cohort
- Addresses student issues and complaints in the Second-degree FT&PTEW program in collaboration with course coordinators and faculty
- Monitors Second-degree FT&PTEW program student progression and program retention, and makes recommendations for student support and improvement of retention. Implements and monitors remediation plans for students as necessary
- Contributes information to formative and summative Nursing Program evaluations
- Promotes the visibility of the traditional to the public, academic communities, professional nursing constituents, and other health care providers
- Participates in University marketing and recruitment activities
- Assists with adjunct faculty recruitment and supervision
- Participates in faculty orientation and evaluation
- Setting up secured testing environment for all courses in the traditional program
- Collaborate with Exam soft champion to support faculty and students on its usage
- Serves as an ATI champion
- Any other duties as assigned
Non-Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct information sessions/open houses for potential students
- Attend Committee meetings
- Arrange and coordinate the pinning and orientation for the Second-degree FT&PTEW students
- Review course shells for Second-degree FT&PTEW program per semester

Education & Experience Requirements
Doctoral degree in nursing preferred. Prior teaching experience of 5 years or more across the life span. Medical Surgical Nursing experience required. Demonstrated 5 or more years of administrative experience in higher education/academic setting. Current practice in nursing field is preferred.

Knowledge of and ability to follow university policies and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community.
Work Environment
Operates in an office environment, that may have frequent interruptions. The area is well-lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards. Noise level is generally quiet to moderate.
Physical Requirements
Communicates frequently, in person, over the phone, or via a computer. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication. Regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a computer keyboard. Operates standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Certification/Licensure
Current unrestricted PA Registered Nurse license.
